More Than a Keg: Our Story of Craft and Community
Our Story Begins
In 2010, The Rusty Keg was born out of a desire to serve and connect with the community. Brian and Kelly Pettit initially purchased the building at auction with plans to create retail spaces for their other businesses. In fact, a local article even stated, “The building will be a lot of things, but it won’t be a restaurant.” However, after carving out space for the other businesses, they found the old bar area of the Terrace Lounge and later The Clubhouse, which wasn’t needed.
Handcrafted with Love: Fresh Patties and Tender Breadinge
After careful thought, Brian and Kelly decided to open a bar featuring homemade food. The Rusty Keg welcomed its first guests on September 23, 2010, with just 56 seats. What began as a quiet bar quickly grew into a popular restaurant, thanks to their dedication to preparing nearly everything from scratch, including grinding beef on-site for their famous hamburgers.
To meet the rising demand, they added a year-round patio and expanded the kitchen to keep up with the crowd. Today, The Rusty Keg is a family-friendly tavern where guests can savor handcrafted dishes and refreshing drinks, all made with care. We take pride in grinding fresh hamburger patties daily and hand-breading our tenders, wings, and chunks to ensure each bite is bursting with flavor. Be sure to try our Philly steaks and homemade mushroom and onion rings, with every ingredient sliced and diced by hand.
